The machine is in the form of a tracked vehicle (2) with a rear spreader (8) for the surfacing material (6), followed by a rigid transverse leveling blade (14). The machine has a front-mounted bin (5) to hold the surfacing material, and a conveyor (7) to transport the material to the rear, where it has a spreader and a rigid transverse blade. The blade has a regulator for adjusting its height and angle of inclination relative to the road surface, and is suspended from a carrier (15) articulated to a supporting frame (16) connected to the vehicle chassis. The leveling blade is of adjustable width, comprising a main section and an extension which fits between adjustable side walls.
