PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an oxygen absorbent which has excellent oxygen absorbing power and oxygen absorption selectivity as a deoxidiser and can be regenerated by a method wherein it is composed of active carbon with which copper halide is supported. SOLUTION: The oxygen absorbent can be obtained by supporting copper halide with active carbon. As 'halogen' of the copper halide, fluorine and chlorine are preferable from the point of oxygen absorbing power. Further, though either of monovalency and bivalency suffices as 'copper', bivalent copper is preferable from the point of the oxygen absorbing power of the oxygen absorbent. Therefore, as the copper halide copper (II) fluoride and copper (II) chloride are preferable from the point of the oxygen absorbing power. A content of copper halide in the oxygen absorbent is 10 to 50 wt.% as copper, and preferably 20 to 40 wt.% as copper. Then, regeneration of the oxygen absorbent after absorbing oxygen can be easily executed with heat treatment. Though irradiation of a microwave, heating with a heater, etc., can be exemplified as the heat treatment method, the irradiation of microwave is preferable since heating can be executed in a moment. |
