PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing unit and its method in which fluctuation in short and long-term image density and gradation reproducibility is systematically corrected by forming a copy image through the operation of an image forming device single body and forming a print image based on image data fed from an external device. SOLUTION: A test print 1 is generated (S101), a correction coefficient Ka of a contrast potential for image forming is optimized by density information obtained in the step S102 (S103), and a grid potential and a development bias potential are set so as to obtain the contrast potential (S104). A test print 2 is generated (S105), a relation between a laser output and density is obtained based on density information obtained in the step 106 (S107) to set a gamma conversion characteristic (S108). |
