PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic head having good quality of output signals, a rather simple structure and low production cost. SOLUTION: The magnetic head 11 has a pair of cores 12, bonding glass 13 interposed between the core pair 11 and jointed with the lower parts 12a of the cores, and a magnetic impedance effect element (MI element) 14 assembled to bridge over the core pair 12 so that an external magnetic field is applied through the core pair 12 on the MI element 14. The MI element 14 consists of a soft magnetic metallic glass alloy essentially consisting of one or more elements of Fe, Co, Ni and containing B and one or more elements of Zr, Nb, Ta, Hf, Mo, Ti, V. The metallic glass alloy has >=20 deg.K temp. interval ΔTx of the supercooled liquid expressed by the equation of ΔTx=Tx-Tg, wherein Tx is the initiating temp. of crystallization and Tg is the glass transition temp. |
