PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silver halide color photographic sensitive element containing a bivalent 5-pyrazolone magenta dye-forming coupler which shows little changes in photographic characteristics such as good relation between the processing rate and graininess, good effects in an image, decrease in the color density and increase of fog when the element is in contact with a formaldehyde gas during stored before color development. SOLUTION: This photographic element has a blue-sensitive, green-sensitive and red-sensitive silver halide emulsion layers on a supporting body and has the following characteristics. (a) The green-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer consists of three green-sensitive silver halide emulsion layers comprising upper, middle and lower layers having photosensitivity in the same spectral region of visible rays, and the sensitivity decreases from the upper layer to the lower layer. (b) Each of the three layers above described contains a bivalent 1-phenyl-3-anilino-4-phenylthio-5-pyrazolone magenta dye forming coupler. (c) The weight ratio of the coupler to the silver halide in the uppermost layer is larger than the weight ratio of the coupler to the silver halide in the middle layer. (d) The uppermost layer contains a DIR coupler.
