PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a simplified MPEG decoder where the circuit scale is reduced in a large scale and high circuit integration semiconductor integrated circuit. SOLUTION: In the case that received image data adopt chroma format of 4:2:0, the image data with this format are converted into chroma format 4: 2: 2 by using an adder circuit provided to a motion compensation processing section 4. In the case of converting input data with a chroma format of 4:2:0 into data with a format 4:2:2, the adder for motion compensation processing provided in the motion compression processing section 4 in the MPEG2 decoder is used in common so as to eliminate the need for a circuit provided with an exclusive adder for format conversion. The circuit configuration is attained with high efficiency without using an exclusive circuit for format conversion by using an existing circuit. |
