PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an interpolated image which maintains the definition of an original image after data interpolation and does not have noise increase due to hue dispersion in an interpolation arithmetic unit of image data. SOLUTION: A 1st signal converting means 31 converts each color signal R, G and B into a luminance color-difference signal YCC about original image data Sorg (R, G and B) which are inputted by an interpolation arithmetic unit 30, a cubic spline interpolation operating means 32 calculates an interpolation luminance signal Y' about a luminance signal Y, and a B spline interpolation operating means 33 calculates interpolation color-difference signals C1 ' and C2 ' about color-difference signals C1 and C2 . After that, a 2nd signal converting means 34 converts the signals Y', C1 ' and C2 ' into interpolation color signals R', G' and B' and obtains interpolated image data S' (R', G' and B'). |
