PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording material capable of forming an image with IR rays, and to provide an offset printing plate produced by using the recording material. SOLUTION: This recording material consists of a substrate having a hydrophilic surface and a layer in which an image can be formed with IR rays. This layer consists of a mixture of a component (a) which absorbs IR rays and converts the energy into heat, a compd. (b) which releases an acid by the effect of the heat generated by the component (a), and a polymer binder (c) having at least one group which can be opened by the acid released by the compd. (b). The binder (c) in the recording material has not only groups which can be opened by an acid but also has hydrophilic groups. Therefore, the area of the layer irradiated with IR rays is rendered to be soluble with an aq. alkali developer. |
