MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM

摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a magnetic recording medium which suppresses the phenomenon that noise increases owing to storage and high output in short wavelength recording with <=0.8μm median recording wavelength required for a small-sized high image quality videotape, etc. SOLUTION: A magnetic coating film contg. a magnetic metal powder and an inorg. powder having a Mohs hardness of >=5 is formed on one side of a substrate and a back coat layer contg. carbon black in the form of aggregates or primary particles having a larger diameter than the major axis size of the magnetic metal powder is formed on the other side to obtain the objective magnetic recording medium. The back coat layer has surface smoothness represented by <=0.01μm center line average roughness.
