CUSHIONING MATERIAL AND MANUFACTURE THEREOF

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a biodegradable cushioning material having an ability similar to that of a conventional cushioning material made of a synthetic resin. SOLUTION: The cushioning material 10 comprises a cushioning piece 2 received in a bag 1 to provide a package, wherein the cushioning piece 2 in the package is compressed to deform, and also the deformed cushioning piece 2 is sealed in the bag 1 under a reduced pressure. In addition, the cushioning piece 2 having fine holes is subjected to compression deformation and received in the bag 1 under the reduced pressure, while a shape of the cushioning material 10 is held by pressure reduction. The cushioning piece 2 is preferably made of a polymer such as starch which is biodegradable and is preferably a foaming substance.
