PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compensating method capable of mutually removing influences of an external force along each of two axes and decomposing and calculating a reaction force from a sample body to each axial direction in an force applying tester for applying a force along each of the two axes orthogonal to each other. SOLUTION: When, for example, a first force applying means 5 is expanded or contracted along an X axis 2 to apply a force on a sample body 4 so that a first measuring means 6 detects a displacement ofΔX1, a controller of a force-applying tester 1 expands or contracts the second force applying means 7 so that a displacementΔY1 measured by the second measuring means 8 is set to beΔY1=L2x(1-cosΘ2). At this time, the sample body 4 does not displace along a Y axis 3. In the forma, L2: a length of a direction along a Y axis 3 of a second link 10 when a force is not applied to the sample body 4,Θ2: an angle made by the second link 10 and the Y axis 3=sin<-1> (ΔX1/L2).
