IMAGE SIGNAL COMPRESSOR AND METHOD AND STORAGE MEDIUM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate at least two kinds of bit streams in real time processing and to avoid production superimposition deterioration by multi-stage coding. SOLUTION: In the image signal compression system, a pre-processing unit 2 converts image data from an image input device 1 into image data of two kinds of resolutions. A compressor 3 applies compression processing like the moving picture experts group MPEG method in combination of motion compensation processing and redundancy reduction processing by orthogonal transform such as discrete cosine transform to image data from the pre-processing unit 2. A vector detector 4 of the compressor 3 detects a motion vector with respect to two kinds of moving image series for a time (1/30 sec) to attain real time processing for one frame of the moving image series consisting of a image of 30 frames per 1 sec. Furthermore, a coder 5 uses the motion vector to code two kinds of the moving image series for 1/30 sec.
