PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a negative charge toner having excellent rising property of toner electrification, a const. charge amt. and environmental stability. SOLUTION: This toner is suitable for such a developing method that a developer containing a toner and a carrier is deposited in a thin layer state with 0.5 to 30.0 mg/cm<2> deposition amt. on a developer carrying member, the thin layer is carried by the developer carrying member to a developing zone where the developer faces an image carrying body, and an oscillating electric field is applied in the developing zone to supply the toner in the developer from the developer carrying member to the surface of a toner carrying body so as to develop an electrostatic latent image formed on the toner carrying body. The toner contains inorg. fine particles externally added. The inorg. fine particles are treated with a hydrophobic agent, a silane coupling agent having cationic groups and/or silicon oil having cationic groups, and the contact blow-off charge amt. (Q) of the particles with an iron oxide powder satisfies the relation of -800<Q<0 μC/g. |
