PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a program selection device which can effectively retrieve and select a program that is adaptive to the liking of a user by integrating the viewing frequency for each attribute of the viewed programs to hold the viewing histories of programs and displaying the program information, based on these viewing histories. SOLUTION: This device includes a display part 104, a program attribute holding part 101 which holds plural program attributes representing the contents of each of a fixed number of programs, and a viewing history holding part 108 which holds the viewing histories of programs. Then the program attributes held at the part 101 are displayed at the part 104, based on the viewing histories held at the part 108. As a result, a program that is adaptive to the user's liking is displayed, based on the viewing history of the user when the user selects the programs. Thus, it's possible to effectively retrieve and select a program that is adaptive to the user's liking among a plurality of programs.
