PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital copying machine which has such high reliability as to guarantee the safety of read image data. SOLUTION: An IPU 18 fetches image data of an original 120 that is read by a reading part 12 two times, performs edit processing and makes a restoring part 20 store it. The image data which are stored in the part 20 and subjected to edit processing are respectively stored in a fixed area of HDD in the part 20 which stores each unmagnified original that is read at the first time, and also, list image data which synthesize contracted images that are read at the second time are stored in an original list (main) and an original list (backup) of the fixed area of the HDD respectively. A system controlling part 24 detects a defective medium in the fixed area of the HDD in the part 20, and if the original list (main) is detected as a defective medium, it replaces it with the original list (backup) as main data and uses it. |
