PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly control the flying speed of ejected ink droplets. SOLUTION: Nozzle orifices for ejecting ink droplets, ink chambers communicating with the nozzle orifices, ink supply chambers for supplying ink to the ink chambers and piezoelectric elements for expanding and contracting the ink chambers corresponding to applied voltage are provided. When a series of ejection processes including a first process (A-B) for expanding the ink chambers to draw in the meniscuses in the nozzle orifices toward the ink chambers, a second process (B-C) for filling the ink chambers with ink to move the meniscuses toward the nozzle orifices and a third process (C-D) for contracting the ink chambers to eject ink droplets are performed, the position of each of the meniscuses at the start point of time of the third process and the cyclical positional change speed thereof are appropriately selected to control the size and flying speed of ink droplets ejected in the third process. |
