PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ultrasonic motor with high operability without giving structural restrictions on an equipment for mounting an ultrasonic motor by interrupting a current passage between electrodes formed to power supply terminals and a piezoelectric element by at least one of members constituting the ultrasonic motor. SOLUTION: A bearing plate 1 comprises an insulation material, and a center shaft 2 fixed to the bearing plate 1 is fully interrupted from external currents. A vibrating body 3 fixed to the center shaft 2 has an piezoelectric element 4 which has electrode patterns 8a, 8b and 8b' provided on the front and rear. A drive circuit applies drive signals which make it possible to generate a traveling wave or a standing wave which vibrates a vibrating body 3 in peripheral direction by a secondary vibrating moment to the piezoelectric element 4 through electrode patterns 8a, 8b and 8b'. In consequence, the piezoelectric element 4 vibrates and the moving body 5 has a rotating motion around the center shaft 2. A gear 6 made of insulation plastics as output means is provided on the moving body 5. |
