Automatic control of vehicle parking brakes

An electronic logic unit (5) receives signals from a driver's parking brake control (1) and also a detector of the position of the ignition key (4). Arrangements for actuating the parking brakes (3) such as jacks (2) are controlled such that in the absence of the ignition key the parking brakes are automatically applied and may not be released.
