Consolidating soil during tunnel boring by injecting stabilising material into holes drilled in sides of tunnel

The holes for the stabilising material are passages having a curved path that initially leads away from the tunnel, but then curves back inwards in front of the boring machine, right up to the central axis of the tunnel intended to be bored. Rods (9) or tubes are used to form the holes, into which a mixture of e.g. water and cement is injected. An Independent claim is also included for the rod or tube used to form the holes.
