An egg cup has inside a smooth surface with a built-in rubber ring with small studs. The rubber ring provides the egg with a firm base and is wide enough to prevent the egg sliding around. The rubber ring is preferably at least 2 mm thick and 7 mm wide. A rubber bead can be provided on the base of the egg cup to provide a non-slip suction surface holding the cup secure on a plate.
