The invention relates to a device for electromechanically agitating a molten metal bath (M), especially a molten aluminium alloy bath. The device comprises a housing (1) which can be filled with the molten metal (M) in a liquid state and the molten metal (M) which is cast in the housing (1) exits later on in an at least partially solidified state. The device also comprises a first multiphase current driven induction unit which generates a first electromagnetic field travelling along the longitudinal axis (L) of the housing (1). The device further comprises a second multiphase current driven induction unit for adequate material exchange and also adequate levelling of temperature gradient in a thixotropic molten metal bath. The second induction unit superimposes on the first magnetic field a second magnetic field which rotates around the longitudinal axis (L) of the housing (1).
