A system for supplying consumers with electrical power contains a flat cable that can be connected to a power source and has several wires (18) and at least one branch-off group with a housing (8) mounted on the flat cable in which the contact pins (20) are held. Their first ends penetrate the wires of the flat cable at least partly and their other ends are connected electrically to wires of a branch cable guided out of the housing and able to be joined to a consumer. The housing has a lower part (8) with a groove (10) to accommodate the flat cable. A retaining plate (22) between the lower and upper parts is provided with the contact pins so that with the assembly of the housing, the contact pins penetrate the wires of the flat cable.
