The container has a sealed chamber to hold a defined measure of supplement for adding to food directly before its consumption. The chamber is formed as an additional section of the container and made from a thin-walled metal and/or plastics material which is easy to open. The chamber is formed by a trough-form recess on the upper side of the cover of the associated glass or plastics bottle. The chamber is sealed by a foil which is tightly attached by its edges to the edge of the cover.
