The power disconnection device (1) uses a movable conductive pin (6) for interrupting the electrical connection path between a pair of cooperating contact terminals (3,5) when the pin is displaced axially by a pressure device, upon release of a restraint in response to a supplied electrical signal. The pressure device for the conductive pin (6) is provided by a coil spring (7) and the restraint device is provided by a magnetic coil (8) holding the pin in contact with the contact terminals.
