An afterrecording method comprising the first step of reading out original data including at least a video bit stream from a digital recording medium (1), the second step of decoding the original data, the third step of encoding audio data to produce a new audio bit stream, and the fourth step of writing the new audio bit stream into a corresponding area of the digital recording medium (1) substantially at the same time as that of the recording area of the original data, wherein the after-recorded audio data can be reproduced in accurate synchronization with the original video data.
