Rice blast and wheat scab control agents and a method of preventing and exterminating these diseases. The rice blast control agent or the wheat scab control agent contains a compound represented by formula (I) in which R<1> represents alkyl or alkenyl and R<2> represents hydrogen or methoxy. The compound represented by formula (I) is extremely highly effective in preventing or exterminating rice blast and wheat scab and is not injurious to the plant to be protected against the diseases.
