The valve element has a spherical surface at one head end, and is fabricated by forming an axial blank. In a first stage, one blank end is formed into a smaller conical or truncated cone-shaped end part. In a second stage, this part is formed into a spherical surface using a press mold (31) with a semi-spherical recessed surface.
