摘要 A steerable antenna system (100) for adjusting the elevation of an antenna (174) for communication with a central facility (1508) via a satellite (1514). The steerable antenna system (100) includes a motor (104), a spindle (112) drivingly engaged to the motor (104), and a chassis (118) fixedly disposed on the spindle (112). The chassis (118) has a stop (122) disposed about its periphery. A first waveguide (138) is fixedly disposed on the chassis (118) and a second waveguide (192) is disposed on an antenna (174). A ring cam (156) is mounted on the chassis (118), and a groove (157] is formed in the ring cam (156). A first portion of a lever arm (166) is pivotally mounted on the chassis (118) and a second portion of the lever arm (166) is disposed in the groove (157) of the ring cam (156). An antenna (174) is hingedly mounted on the chassis (118) and to the lever arm (166). A solenoid (196), disposed on a base (102) of the steerable antenna system (100), is configured to engage a portion of the ring cam (156). In use, when the solenoid (196) is activated, power from the motor (104) is used to adjust the elevation of the antenna (174). When the solenoid (196) is deactivated, power from the motor (104) is used to adjust the azimuth of the antenna (174) to acquire a satellite (1514).
