FIELD: superhard carbon materials used in manufacture of tools for working of materials, structural and semiconducting materials. SUBSTANCE: superhard carbon material has structure of bulk-polymerized tetrahedron with molecules C<SB>60</SB> in vertexes. Tetrahedrons are in state of considerably ordered and/or disordered orientation. The superhard carbon material is produced by noncatalytic shear deformation of initial fullerite C<SB>60</SB> at mutual relationship of pressures ranging within 7.5-37 GPa and temperatures from room temperature to 1830 C. Fullerite is preliminarily cooled to temperature of not below minus 196 C. Preliminarily formed from initial fullerite is article (anvil for high-pressure chambers, cutting plate, members and transducers for instruments). Superhard carbon material rigidity exceeds that of diamond by 20%, its density is 2.1-3.5 g/cu.cm, hardness is 50-170 GPa and above, and conductness is 10 -10 -Ohm<SP>-1</SP>cm ; heat resistance is up to 1000 C.
