Represents symbols (4B3T) by signal bits of a sign and magnitude analagous to bits representing the symbols of the code (2B1Q). Each pair of bits of sign (BS) and magnitude (BM) is used to control a common filter of position and form (FMF) delivered from a memory (MM) containing the numerical samples partially representing the coding impulses of a sampled numerical signal (SCH) representing the analogue signal transmitted along the telephone line.
