Water-swellable elastomer composition

A water-swellable elastomer composition comprising (A) an N-vinylcarboxylic acid amide-base crosslinked resin, (B) a water-swellable urethane obtained by the reaction of a hydrophilic polyol with a polyisocyanate, and (C) an elastomer can retain the stable magnification of swelling with an aqueous solution containing an electrolyte or ion such as acid, alkali and various salts, sea water or cement water, and can be used as a leak-preventive material for a long period of time without undergoing reduction in the water stopping capability.
