PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluorescent character display tube which does not generate EMI(electromagnetic interference). SOLUTION: A fluorescent character display tube is provided with an electron source, a mesh-shaped control electrode which controls electrons released from the electron source, and a positive electrode with phosphors which emit light, when the electrons released from the electron source hit the phosphors, in an envelope the inside of which is made into a high vacuum state. A mesh pattern of the control electrode is hexagonal and has a wire diameter of 30-50μm and a side length of the hexagon of 0.4 mm. The opening rate is 74.9%. According to a graph which shows the relation between a frequency and the strength of a magnetic field generated when the fluorescent character display tube is on, there is no EMI generation in a 350-420 MHz band, in which EMI has been generated in the conventional fluorescent character display tube.
