PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase an electric charge/discharge utilization rate and improve the density of battery capacity as well. SOLUTION: Nickel hydroxide is contains piled bodies or single crystals with a uniform crystal direction and contains 1-20 wt.% Mn, and its grain diameter is 0.5-5 μm. The entire width of at half value of the peek of the (001) surface in an X-ray analysis chart obtained by the most easily oriented sampling is 0.3 deg or less, and the strength ratio between (001) surface and (101) surface is set to (001)/(101)>1.1. The positive electrode active substance for an alkaline storage battery is formed by nickel hydroxide, and the alkaline storage battery is obtained by using the positive electrode active substance. |
