PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrochemical type battery having a positive terminal and a negative terminal insulated from a case, and provided with a metal case free from corrosion. SOLUTION: This battery contains an auxiliary electrode containing an electrochemially active material selected for an electrochemial potential to be within passivation and stability range of a metal forming a case 1, and contacting with the case 1 to be immersed into an electrolyte. In this example, the case 1 is made of aluminum, and the auxiliary electrode is made of a material selected from the group of a lithium containing or non-containing metal oxide or metal sulfide such as V2 O5 , Lix V2 O5 , MnO2 , Lix MnO2 , MoS2 , Lix MoS2 , of which potential is 2-3.5 V relating to lithium. |
