PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate individual differences when a vehicle involved in an accident is inspected and estimated through visual confirmation by detecting an input pattern of an external force by comparing an image of the broken vehicle and an image of an unbroken vehicle and inferring positions and components of damage meeting the input pattern of the external force. SOLUTION: A CPU 1 compares the outline image of the broken vehicle with the outline of the unbroken vehicle and detects the input position, input direction, and strength of the external force to the broken vehicle (external force input pattern) through an image processing method. Then the CPU 1 performs retrieval from a knowledge data base 12 according to the input position, input direction, and strength of the external force (external force input pattern) to obtain corresponding affected part and component information. This result is displayed on a CRT 4 as an influence path correlative chart of the external force. Then when an estimating person inspects the broken vehicle and actually confirms the repair parts, positions and components which need to be repaired are specified (selected) on the display screen of the CRT 7 through an input device 3 and the CPU 1 performs an estimating process and calculates the repair cost. |
