<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To add a cross connect function to an ATM exchange in the service where a narrow band channel signal is assembled into an ATM cell. SOLUTION: In the case that an ATM terminal equipment 200 assembles a narrow band channel signal into an ATM cell, an ATM cell generating section 210 separates the signal in the unit of channel signals at a transmission rate of 64 kbps and the channel signals are multiplexed for each connected path and assembled into ATM cells and different virtual channel identifier is assigned to each cell and the resulting cell is transmitted as an ATM cell. An ATM exchange 100 shares the path and decodes the cell into a channel signal and outputs the result to an intra-station exchange and a private branch of exchange 300 as a narrow band signal to realize a cross connect function of the narrow band channel signal in an ATM network.</p> |
