摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a liquid crystal diffraction device with a high utilization efficiency of light, and an optical head apparatus. SOLUTION: An alignment layer 14A is provided on inner surfaces of transparent substrates 11A and 11B interposing a liquid crystal 13 therebetween. Transparent electrodes 12A and 12B are provided on the whole one surface of the respective substrates. A photomask 16 having a planar periodic light-blocking pattern is disposed, and light irradiation is performed with or without voltage being applied between the electrodes so that the liquid crystal 13 is cured. Then, the voltage application condition is changed and the light irradiation is performed, whereby the remaining portion is cured.
