PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically output the array of KANJI (Chinese character) what is called a substitute character by outputting individual KANJI representations converted by a conversion means converting data into the KANJI representations by referring to a dictionary means as conversion candidates. SOLUTION: CPU 1, an address/data bus 2, CGROM 3, VRAM 4 and a display controller 5 are provided. The type of a substitute character dictionary and the type of delimitation are designated and a KANA character string is inputted. Then, regular conversion and retrieval are executed. A retrieval result is judged. When it does not exist, a system shifts to a substitute character conversion processing. The type of delimitation is judged from designated information. When the delimitation of plural characters is set, a retrieval character string is delimitated in plural character units. The type of a substitute character dictionary is referred to and the substitute character dictionary is retrieved based on the information. When a conversion result exists as the result of retrieval, the candidate is displayed and a decision processing is executed when a decision key is depressed. Then, data is displayed on a display screen. |
