<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent blur of an image, in the case that a pull-down sequence is detected from an input video signal and compression coding is conducted based on the detection. SOLUTION: A state transition for sequence detection is started from a state f1. When the sequence detection is locked, the state is sequentially transited with a period of 1/24 (sec) as states F2→F3→F4→F1. On the occurrence of state transition from the state F3, when locking of sequence detection is unlocked, the state is transited to a state f3. The state f3 keeps a field relation with the just immediately preceding state F3 and inverts a noninterlaced scanning flag into that of a interlaced scanning. The redetection for the sequence in the state f3 is awaited. Through the provision of the state f3, even when a CM or the like is inserted on the way to a pull-down source, occurrence of a blurring of an image is prevented.</p> |
