PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To send data with a reduced protocol by referring to learnt information such as line quality when a called equipment made transmission to a caller equipment in the past. SOLUTION: A called equipment sends NSF and DIS signals to a caller equipment at the arrival of a call and awaits a reply from the caller equipment and when the called equipment receives an AI tone (800 Hz) the called equipment recognizes it that the succeeding sequence is conducted by an AI reduced protocol. The caller equipment informs its own station number NSC as its own station ID to the called equipment. The called equipment retrieves destination information by this frame and when in existence, the called equipment checks whether or not learnt information is in existence. In the case that the learnt information is in existence, since it depicts that AI polling transmission to the caller equipment is available, the called equipment uses a nonstandard function setting NSS(S) to report the transmission condition and awaits a reply CFR from the caller equipment and sends image information when the called equipment receives the reply. In the case that no learnt information is in existence. In the case that the no learnt information is retrieved, since it depicts that the reduced protocol is not available, the called equipment sends an NSF(S) newly and transits to usual polling transmission reception.
