PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decide an optimum recording focus position in a short time by economizing a rotation waiting time by recording and reproducing continuously a land and a groove track at a set recording focus position when optimum recording focus position before recording data is decided. SOLUTION: In an optimum position deciding means 5, for example, when a first result of a reproduction signal quality detecting means 4 is no good, a higher position than a first recording focus position is set, when a result is all correct, a lower position than the first recording focus position is set, and continuous recording and reproducing of a land and a groove track are performed at this set position. In order to obtain an optimum recording focus position, a recording focus position is gradually changed, recording and reproducing are repeated for each change, and a recording focus position at which a high quality reproduced signal is secured is obtained. At the time, if recording is performed at recording focus positions of four kinds, it takes only a time of 5×4=20 rotations. |
