PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recorder that prevents waste of power and a read method for the recorder. SOLUTION: When a time count section 33 counts that a signalϕTR 40 is not received within a prescribed time based on the signalϕTR 40 that is used without fail when a scanner unit is in operation, the section 33 provides an output of an oscillation stop signal to close a switch 32 to stop the oscillation. When the section 33 counts the input of the signalϕTR 40 within a prescribed time, the signalϕTR 40 is used for an oscillation start signal, the section 33 opens the switch 32 to start the oscillation as an oscillation control method. Thus, when the scanner unit 51 is in a standby state, an oscillation control section 31 stops tentatively the oscillation of an oscillation amplifier 30 to prevent waste of the power of the entire scanner unit 51.
