A brazing pin comprises a machined (preferably turned or pressed) main section (2) pressed together with a hollow solder material cap (5), preferably silver solder material which contains flux. It is used for soldering, e.g., cable shoes to railway track rails. The pin is prepared by forming a conical plug (4) in one end of the main section, which is received by a correspondingly shaped hollow region inside the cap, and then pressing down onto the cap so that the cap mantle deforms in a radial direction away from the centre of the plug. Also claimed are: (i) a similar preparation method using a conical hollow instead of a plug which receives the foot of a mushroom-shaped hollow cap; and (ii) pins prepared by these methods. |
