PURPOSE: To attain exceedingly high-speed magneto-optical data recording by using a simple device by rotating a permanent magnet around a first shaft and inverting the magnetic polarity of the magnetic field adjacent to the first part of a magneto-optical medium while averting the contact of this permanent magnet and the magneto-optical medium. CONSTITUTION: A disk 10 rotatable around a hub 12 has a recording region 14 and the permanent magnet 52 is installed adjacently to the recording region of the disk 10. The space adjacent to the first surface 56 of the permanent magnet 52 has the first magnetic polarity and the space adjacent to the second surface 58 has the second magnetic polarity opposite to the first magnetic polarity. The second magnetic field to generate the torque on the permanent magnet 52 is formed around a vertical axis 54 by the interaction with the first magnetic field that the permanent magnet 52 forms by the operation of the operating elements 64, 66. This torque induces the rotating acceleration of the permanent magnet 52 around the vertical shaft 54, thereby rapidly rotate the permanent magnet 52. The access for writing or erasing is achieved within the several revolutions, more preferably within one revolution of the disk. |
