摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain a light quantity attenuator for an optical waveguide body which is small in size and mass-produced at low cost. CONSTITUTION:Plural optical fibers 1 and 2 each consisting of a core and a clad are bundled, the thickness of the clad of the drawn and fusion-spliced part 3 becomes less than the wavelength of transmitted light, and this optical fiber coupled body allows the transmitted light to move among the optical fibers; and some of the optical fibers 1 and 2 are light leakage optical fibers 1 whose end surfaces are both processed for light leakage and the remaining optical fibers are transmission fibers 2 for the transmitted light. When the transmitted light is made incident on the transmission fiber 2 from its incidence- side end part, part of the transmitted light changes its course to the core of the light leakage fiber 1 at the part where the clad is reduced in thickness. Part of the light which is cut off by the clad of the transmission fiber 2 becomes a clad mode wave as it is.
