PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce curreny consumption by allowing a specific control means to supply exciting currents only at the time of driving a stepping motor and allowing the control means to stop exciting currents of all phases at the stand-by time of the stepping motor. SOLUTION: A control means (CPU) corrects the pitch unevenness of the subscanning direction in the same color plate surface and mispositiongs among respective color plates by controlling a stepping motor 28 based on an equation beingΔθ=acrsin(sinθ0 +Δy/e)-θ0 according to a result in which the pitch unevenness of the subscanning direction in the same color plate surface and mispositiongs among respective color plates are detected. Then, a control signal (IGATE signal) is inputted to AND gates 54-57 from the CPU and the gates pass→output signals of respective stages of a shift register 53 when the IGATE signal is 'H' and interrupt them when the signal is 'L'. Then, the CPU makes the IGATE signal 'H' at the time of driving a motor 28 and makes the signal 'L' at the stand-by time of the motor 28. Thus, the current consumption is reduced.
