摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a wide display color range and to embody high reflectivity by providing plural liquid crystal layers with a layer contg. dichromatic dyestuffs and a layer not contg. the dichromatic dyestuffs. SOLUTION: A reflection plate is built in a cell in order to eliminate parallaxes of a reflection type color liquid crystal display device. In such a case, one sheet of a polarizing plate is used. This polarizing plate is replaced with two layers of guest- host type liquid crystals. Two layers of the guest-host type liquid crystals are so set that the orientation directions thereof intersect orthogonally with each other. Namely, the liquid crystal display device is constituted by laminating the liquid crystal layer contg. the dichromatic dyestuffs and the liquid crystal layer not contg. the dichromatic dyestuffs. The bright display of the high reflectivity is obtd. if both orientation directions are set at the normal direction of the plane of the substrates by controlling the liquid crystal orientation of two layers of the guest-host type liquid crystals by the electrolysis. The color display of high color purity is obtd. if the orientation direction of the one layer of two layers of the guest-host type liquid crystals is set at the plane direction of the substrates and the orientation direction of the other one layer at the normal direction of the plane of the substrates. The dark display of the low reflectivity is obtd. if both of the orientation directions is set at the plane direction of the substrates.
