<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the formation of dioxin by heating scrap with a chlorine- contg. org. material and a dechlorinating agent so that a harmful chlorine-contg. gas generated from the org. material is made harmless, separating the scrap and putting it in a melting furnace. SOLUTION: A metal scrap 1a with a chlorine-contg. org. material and a dechlorinating agent 1b such as sodium hydrogencarbonate are mixed by a mixing means 1, put in a heat treating furnace 2 and heated. A chlorine-contg. gas generated by the heating is allowed to react immediately with the clechlorinating agent to form harmless sodium chloride and the chlorine-contg. gas is removed. The treated scrap metal and residue contg. the harmless sodium chloride are taken out, the scrap metal is separated by a separating means 3 and the sodium chloride is removed by washing with water, etc. The scrap metal is sorted, dried and put in an electric furnace 5 through a preheating means 4.</p> |
