PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject product by recycling paper sludge so as to be utilized as a soil modifier or snow melting material. SOLUTION: This carbonized product from paper sludge, which is a porous granular carbonized product with open cells, comprises, on an absolute dry weight basis, 10-20% of combustibles, 20-35% of SiO2 , 15-20% of Al2 O3 , 5-15% of Fe2 O3 , 10-20% of CaO, and 5-15% of MgO, being 70-150 wt.% in water absorption determined in accordance with the JIS C2141 procedure, 60-120 m<2> /g in specific surface area determined by BET adsorption method, and pH 8.0-11.0 determined in accordance with the JIS K1474 procedure. Another version of this product is a porous granular carbonized product of black color, has a porosity of >=75 vol.% and pore volume of >=1,500 1,500 mm<3> /g, being 20-60 μm in average pore radius, and has the pores of >=1 μm accounting for >=70 vol.% of the total pore volume. |
