<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for producing optical elements, such as diffraction gratings and scales, at a high speed in an atm. atmosphere and the optical element formed by the process for production. SOLUTION: A high-polymer film 21 is prepd. (A); a reflection film 22 is added to the surface of the high-polymer film 21 (B); the resulted laminate is selectively irradiated with a laser beam 23 from the direction reverse from the reflection film 22 (C) and at this time, the surface of the high-polymer film 21 is processed by a laser abrasion effect and gratings are formed thereon, by which the reflection type optical element 24 is obtd. (D). Grooves are formed in the laser beam processed parts by taper-shaped flanks and bases having the surface rougher than the film surface of the non-processed parts. The reflectivity of the processed parts and the non-processed parts is changed by the shapes of these grooves. The optical effect of the reflection type optical element 24 is obtd. by utilizing such characteristics.</p> |
